Hello my beauties!
How is everyone doing? I hope all is well with all my beautiful readers.
Today I am bringing you another product review. The Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation is one that I have been testing out for quite a while now. I wanted to test it out for a good amount of time before giving you all my thoughts. Any time I review a product I am sure to test it out for a few weeks first.
As always, take my opinion with a grain of salt. Products work different for everyone. I may love a product you hate and vice versa. This is just my opinion from my personal experience.
If you’d like to know my thoughts on the Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation just keep scrolling!
- Retails for $7.99 USD
- Comes in 7 shades
- Claims to last 25 hours
- Claims to be transfer proof
- Claims to be full coverage
- Has an SPF 20
- Claims to leave you with flawless looking skin
I haven’t tried a lot of products from Rimmel. I admit it isn’t a brand that catches my eye in the drug store. However, when I saw the claims for this product I was excited to test it out. Sadly, this foundation is another to let me down. I was definitely disappointed in how this product performed on my skin, and once again I find this product to be advertised incorrectly.
My first issue is the false advertisement. This foundation comes with a lot of claims, and in my opinion it doesn’t live up to any of them. I don’t understand a brand advertising a product to be something that it is not. That is a big pet peeve of mine with brands. Just be truthful about what you are selling. I understand wanting to make a product appealing to drive sales, but being dishonest will only drive people away from your company. So I personally think they should advertise this product a lot differently.
That being said let’s get into why I don’t agree with the claims. First, this foundation is definitely not full coverage. The most coverage I could get with this foundation is a light medium. It honestly was barely a medium coverage, and that was with more than one layer. This definitely should be advertised as a light to medium coverage foundation.
Rimmel also claims that this foundation will last on your skin for a whole 25 hours! That claim is always ridiculous to me. A lot of drug store brands will advertise at least 24 hour wear, and that is usually never true. Not to mention who actually wears their foundation that long? Anyway, I found that it didn’t last on my skin at all. It looks okay up to about the 3 to 4 hour mark. Then it just goes down hill from there. I get extremely oily by 3 hours, and then it starts to break up and look patchy. To be called the Lasting Finish foundation it doesn’t have good lasting power.
It also claims to be transfer proof. However, on me it definitely transfers. Even after I have set this with a powder it will transfer. It is almost like it never fully sets. If you touch your face you will have foundation come off which increases the patchy look. That brings me to yet another dishonest claim that it will give you flawless looking skin. My skin looked far from flawless with this foundation. Even when it is first applied it doesn’t look great it is just okay. After a few hours I got oily, it looked patchy, and it made my pores look huge.
Not to be a negative Nancy, but I also hate the shade range. It is really hard to find a closely matching shade in this foundation. There is no way that 7 shades will ever be enough to cover all different skin tones. Brands really need to be more considerate of the fact that there are a lot of different skin tones with varying undertones, and that means that they need a lot of shade options.
Hit or Miss?
As you have most likely guessed by this point this product was a major miss for me. There is honestly nothing about this product that I like other than the fact it is affordable. However, the quality was so bad I wouldn’t repurchase it even though it is cheap.
I really could not get this product to work for me so I would say pass on this one. I definitely don’t think it is worth buying.
Thank you all so much for reading my review! This one was definitely on the negative side, but I like to be 100% honest with all of you. Thanks again for taking time to read it, and if there is anything you would like me to review just let me know!
