A Day in My Life. Vol. 1

Hello Everyone!

Today I am starting one of the new things I want to do here on my blog. To help my readers get to know me better from time to time I want to talk about my day. I hope you all enjoy this a lot! If you’re interested to hear about my weekend then keep on scrolling!

As most of you know I am sure Mother’s day is this weekend, and we all know that means everywhere is insanely busy! Since Sunday would be so busy I decided to do everything for my mom on Saturday, and we had the best day!

I started out the morning with giving my mom her part two present. Part one was a dozen orange roses, and a dozen orange tulips that I gave her Friday after work. I chose orange because it is her most favorite color! I also gave her a giant card because I am extra like that! I mean my mom has dealt with me for 25 years, she definitely deserves some spoiling!

After she opened her gifts we decided to go shopping for flowers and mulch which is sort of tradition for us now. This is two years in a row that we have spent Mother’s day weekend like this, and we both love it. After we picked out everything we needed for the flower beds I had to treat her out to a good lunch! We went to Ruby Tuesdays, and the food was so delicious! We all definitely enjoyed our lunch and our dessert. Let’s just say key lime cake with whipped cream and blueberries is definitely one of my new favorites!

When we came back home all the hard work started. I put my phone in the house (other than to take pictures), we worked on the flower beds around the house, and just enjoyed regular conversation. The weather was gorgeous all day long, and it made for such a relaxing day! Working in the flower beds is one of my favorite things to do because it is relaxing to me. Being outside in nature with absolutely no electronics is one of the most relaxing things I can do.

It honestly puts my mind at ease, I am less anxious, and I just feel better! When I am focused on placing the flowers, and designing where all the stuff goes my mind is at rest. The world slows down because I am not in a hurry to get something done. It is still a lot of hard work, but it is the best kind of hard work! If you haven’t tried it you definitely need to.

The first flower bed we worked on was the one right in front of the porch, and I am so happy with how this one turned out! Plus we put red Dragons Breath in there, and it is one of my personal favorite flowers.

Flower bed 1

One of my favorite parts of this flower bed is the new bird bath! The glass top has hand painted humming birds, and it is a solar light so it lights up at night. It is so pretty to see at night, and the pictures don’t do it justice.

Once the first flower bed was done we focused on the porch itself. My mom always likes to have flowers on the tables on the porch, and I love the pop of color it gives!

purple flower

The purple was definitely my pick! I spotted it from across the room when we were shopping, and I had to get it.

yellow red flower

This one is equally beautiful, and it brings such great color to the front porch!

sweet potatoe vine

This is my moms favorite, sweet potato vine. Throughout the summer these will vine down the sides of the flower-pot, and it is so pretty! I love the vibrant green.

Next we focused on the bigger flower bed, and let me tell you it was a lot of work!

flower bed 2

Finally we finished off the evening with the smallest of all the flower beds. My favorite part about this one is we have a little snail that says toad house on it. It was so random, but I actually found a little frog, and I caught him to put in the toad house! He stayed in there until late that night, and then he came back out. However, I just thought it was so cool that a frog came along as we were setting that up. I am a complete dork who finds excitement in the small things like that.

flower bed 3

There is still one more big flower bed that needs to be done, but three in one day was more than enough! Honestly though it was a great day. I was exhausted and in a lot of pain by the end of the night, but it was a lot of fun. It was great to spend the day with my mom, and get to just relax. It was a day well spent!

That’s all for today’s post. Thank you so much for coming by my little quirky corner, and I would love for you to subscribe before you leave. Let me know how your weekend went!
