Hello everyone, and welcome back to my quirky corner! Thank you so much for joining me today!
Today I am very excited to share my thoughts on some new makeup finds. I have tried out all these products at least once, and I’m ready to tell you what I think. Now, obviously these are only first impressions, and I do need to test them out more. This is only my thoughts after one use, and my thoughts very well could change.
If you would like to hear more about the makeup I used to create this look then just keep scrolling!
Loreal Infallible Long Wear Shaping Foundation Makeup Sticks
- Retail Price $10.97
- 12 shades available online (less in store)
I was super excited when I saw this in stores! I am always excited to try out new foundations, especially, when they are affordable. In the store I believe there was only six foundation shades, two blushes, and two highlights displayed. However, if you go online they show a total of twelve shades. Still this is incredibly disappointing! Brands need to start coming out with more shades. I mean Covergirl just launched 40 shades, and other drug store brands need to take the hint. Twelve shades does not cover all the skin tones in the world!
The shade range is my biggest pet peeve with this product. I purchased the lightest shade, and it is still about two shades too dark for my skin. So if you have my skin tone or lighter than you will have to mix it with something to lighten it. Also there wasn’t much variation in the deep shades either. This foundation basically only suits a variety of medium toned skin.
Other than that it was a decent product. It claims to have buildable coverage, but I did not test that out. After the first layer it did feel a little heavy already so I didn’t want to add more. It was easy to blend out, and it is extremely creamy in texture. If it was light enough for me I would probably reach for it again, but since it’s not I doubt I will use it again.
Milani Translucent light to medium Setting Powder
- Retail Price $10.99
- Four Shades
I usually love Milani products, but this one is a major let down. First of all I don’t understand why they include the word translucent in the title of this product because there is nothing translucent about it. The powder has a definite pigment to it, and the light to medium shade is far from light. It is the lightest option, but it is about two shades too dark for me. It actually complimented the foundation perfectly in shade, but obviously that means it was way too dark.
The formula is nice. I will say it feels like a very smooth powder, and it looks beautiful on the skin. The packaging is also very nice. If you have a medium skin tone you may love it, but if your pale like me you won’t be able to use it.
Wet N Wild Photo Focus Primer Water Paradise Potion
- Retail price $4.99
- Limited Edition (Currently available at Target)
I’m not sure how I feel about this product. I have never been a huge fan of primer waters from any brand. I use the Smashbox one from time to time, but it’s not a product I must have in my collection. This smells amazing, but I don’t know that it helped my makeup wear any better. I will most likely use this product up, but even if you was a permanent product I wouldn’t repurchase it. It’s not bad, but it just didn’t wow me.
Maybelline Tattoo Studio Brow Tint Pen
- Retail Price $7.94
As soon as this product came in my sight I had to have it! The tip of this product is what intrigued me the most. The tip reminds me so much of what a microblade needle looks like which is why I wanted to give this product a try. However, once I tried it my excitement faded rather quickly. I found that it barely showed up on me, and it dried out very quick. I kept having to stop, shake the pen, and then start again. It was just a long process, and I didn’t see a difference in my brows. Maybe if you were missing a lot of brow hairs this would work better for you, but I just didn’t see the point in it. I have lots of other brow products that do a much better job.
Maybelline Lasting Drama Matte Eyeliner in Jade
- Retail Price $4.97
I bought this because of the beautiful green shade! I thought it would pair perfectly with the eye look I was planning to do with the Gemini palette. It is a gorgeous army green shade. Sadly, though it didn’t work out for me. My eyes are very sensitive, and there is a lot of eye liners that I can’t use. This just so happens to be one of them. My eyes were almost immediately irritated. If you don’t have sensitive eyes then I highly recommend you check out this color!
Melt Cosmetics Gemini Palette
- Retail Price $58
Melt Cosmetics started teasing about this palette weeks in advance. They were sneak peaking shades on their Instagram, and as soon as I saw the shade Leo I knew I needed this palette in my life. The day it launched I was stalking the website refreshing the page so I was assured to get it. Let me tell you I am not disappointed in this one! I have been reaching for this palette nonstop! The shadows are pigmented, buttery, and blend out practically on their own. It is completely worth the price because the quality is top-notch. It is currently sold out, but if it comes back in stock get your hands on it!
Melt Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Dream Boy
- Retail Price $19
I picked this up the same time as I got the palette, and I don’t know how I feel. The color looked super pretty on the site, but on me it shows up totally different. It shows very deep on me so I feel like it is more of a Fall shade than Summer. The formula is very comfortable on the lips, but I did notice that it transfers. So not my favorite thing, but I definitely will try it out more. Since it is a dark shade I will likely test this more in the Fall time. It is a cool tone color which we all know is my favorite.
Well that is all the new makeup first impressions, I sure hope you enjoyed this post! Thank you so much for taking time from your day to spend here in my corner. I truly appreciate it. Have a great day everyone!
