Boxy and Chill

Hello everyone! Welcome back to my quirky corner of the web! Hope all is well with all of you quirky readers. Most things are going well here, except for the frigid temperatures. I am definitely already over the cold weather! So today from a fuzzy blanket with a hot cup of tea I am bringing you my first Boxy Charm unboxing of the year! I have lots of thoughts on this months box so let’s just jump right into it!

Boxy Charm is a monthly subscription box where you receive 5 full sized beauty products valued at $100 or more for only $21!

Roscaro Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray by Briogeo

The very first item in this months box was an exciting product, but very disappointing to see. This leave-in conditioning spray is hands down one of my most favorite hair care products! Therefore, I do enjoy having another bottle of this on hand without having to pay full price for it. My problem with it being in the box is that it is a repeat product. I have received this product three separate times in my box, and one of the times was only a few months ago. Part of the joy from Boxy Charm is finding new products, and it is disappointing when they repeat a product over and over.

Havana Nights Liquid Lipstick by Ofra

This product is yet another one of those that I like but greatly disappointed me at the same time. Are you guys seeing the trend here? Ofra liquid lipsticks are really comfortable on the lips. They do not dry out at all, but the downside to that is they are not transfer proof. This particular shade was created by Kathleen Lights on Youtube which totally makes sense since she helped to curate this months box. However, when she first released this lipstick I was quick to purchase it because I do love to watch her channel and the shade is gorgeous! So this is another product I am already familiar with that is a part of my collection, and for that reason, I will give this one away. Also, the same reason I wasn’t too excited to see it in the box.

Luminous Dewy Skin Face Mask by Tatcha

Now, this is an exciting product! I have never tried a Tatcha product because honestly, it is way too expensive. I always talk myself out of buying anything from the brand. I have heard amazing things about Tatcha skincare so I am excited to try out these sheet masks. I do feel like this particular product is geared more towards dry skin, but I will still give it a shot. My skin is combination oily so I don’t usually use luminous products, but I can’t resist I have to try it! Besides, us oily girls need moisturizer too right?

Retail price: $24

Universal Brow Pencil by Billion Dollar Brows

I typically love getting new brow products to try out because I love doing my brows. You can almost always bet even if I don’t do the rest of my makeup I probably have done my brows. This brow pencil I am not so sure about though. My first issue is the fact that they claim this is a universal brow pencil. There is no way this is universal because if you have really light brows it will be too dark and if you have black brows it won’t be dark enough. There is also the issue that this shade is very warm toned, and I for one have no warmth in my brows so I don’t really see it working for me. The formula also seems extremely creamy as if it will slip around too much. Of course I have not actually tried the product yet so I could be wrong. I will give the product a try, but I don’t have high hopes for it.

Limited Edition Rainforest Of the Sea Highlighting Eyeshadow Palette Vol III By Tarte

Tarte is one of my most favorite brands so I was super excited to see them featured in the box this month! However, I will admit this pallet is not my favorite. Don’t get me wrong the colors are beautiful. Tarte also has an amazing shadow formula so nothing wrong there. My problem is that all the shades are shimmers except for one of them. Therefore, this is what I call a sister palette. In order to use it, you have to sister it with another palette in your collection which isn’t always ideal. Especially when I know I have shades very similar to all of these in a pallet that also already has matte shades in it. Honestly, it comes down to a matter of convenience. I prefer pallets that I can create a whole look with rather that one I have to sister with other pallets.

Box Grand Total Value $110

Overall I must admit I am rather disappointed in this months box. Truthfully I have been disappointed in Boxy Charm for a few months now, and they are not redeeming themselves. My boxes used to be exciting with new fun products, but now I get repeat products a lot. I also have to say the value of the box has changed. This month the value is decent for what they advertise, but the problem is we were getting boxes that had $170 plus value. So now to see only a $110 value it is definitely not the same. I will still get the February box, and I am hoping it is a good one! If not then the future of Boxy Charm posts may be grim, lol.

Thank you guys so much for spending time in my quirky corner of the web I do appreciate it! Do you get a Boxy Charm? What are your thoughts on it? let me know in the comments! Keep warm and enjoy your day readers!!
