Physicians Formula Organic Wear Silk Foundation Elixer

Hello Everyone! Welcome back to my quirky corner of the web, thank you so much for stopping by.

Today as promised I am bringing you a light hearted review of a new drug store foundation. I haven’t seen too many people talk about this foundation so I was excited to give it a try. It isn’t something I would typically go for, but I wanted to give it a chance.

Let’s just say I for sure have some thoughts on this one! If you’d like to know more about this new foundation just keep scrolling.

The Thing I Like

What truly sparked my interest in this foundation was the fact that it is organic. I love the idea of having a foundation that is full of natural ingredients that are good for my skin. Most foundations that I own are not even remotely as clean as this one. I think the fact that it is packed with organic oils, is vegan, and cruelty free will really appeal to a lot of consumers.

What Shocked Me

Since the description of this product says it has sheer to buildable coverage I was not expecting much coverage at all. However, I was pleasantly shocked to find that I got high medium coverage with it. I found that I definitely needed to use a beauty sponge to apply it because a brush left it way to streaky. Even with using a beauty sponge which can take away coverage I still achieved good medium coverage. I was impressed that an all organic foundation that says it is sheer actually built all the way up to high medium coverage. I can definitely say it did build just fine, and I’ve never found that in another organic foundation.

What Didn’t Work For Me

Now unfortunately, I have to say overall this foundation did not work for me. The first problem I had is that this product claims to look like skin and to improve skin texture. However, I found it looked surprisingly heavy on my skin. It was like it was just sitting on top of my skin, and every piece of texture was majorly emphasized. It never truly meshed with my skin, and I have other foundations that look flawless.

The amount of dewy also did not work for me. I had a hunch that with all the oils it contains it wouldn’t work on my skin. I have combination normal to oily skin just for reference. Even with a mattifying primer and setting spray I got way too oily. My smile lines creased so bad, and then the foundation rubbed off in those spots. At one point I barely scratched my nose, and the foundation just came right off. I did use a good setting powder with it as well. However, it is quite simply far to dewy for my skin type.

I did wear the foundation for a full ten hours, and it looked terrible by the end of the day. I was creasing all over, spots were missing, and I looked like a grease ball. I did not like how this foundation wore from the start and it only got worse. I would not say this is a long wear foundation at all, but it also doesn’t claim a wear time.

Overall Thoughts

I would not recommend this foundation to anyone with oily skin or mature skin. It quickly sets into fine lines and wrinkles so I can’t imagine it looking good on more mature skin. It also has too many oils in it for it to work with oily skin. That being said if you have dry skin you could possibly love it. I would say it is a very light weight extra dewy foundation. Even on dry skin though I would say this is at best a short wear time. It would be great if you just wanted to even out your skin tone while you head out to run quick errands. I don’t think any skin type could wear this for a long time period without it looking rough.

For me this foundation is a 1 out of 5 stars.

If you have tried this foundation I would love to hear your thoughts on it! Thank you so much for spending part of your day here in my quirky corner. I hope this review was helpful, and if you enjoyed it please give it a like. Have a great evening everyone, I’ll be seeing you soon.
